Healing Ministry

Healing

Healing the body and spirit is always an important part of the ministry especially for Chaplains.

I've heard people say "It's God's will" or "I'll just leave it up to God" when faced with a serious illness or tragedy. Don't fall into that trap. God wants us to pray to him for help. In Luke 18:1 Jesus told his disciples that they "should always pray and not give up." Pray to God from your heart for healing. Don't stop. Don't give up. God wants us to ask him for help. He loves us. Only someone facing or sharing a serious sickness, pain or tragedy knows how hard it is. They know how hard it is to cope with the fear and uncertainty. They know how absurd it sounds when someone first tells them to "keep a positive attitude". They know how terrifying it is when the doubt comes. They know how hard it is to remain hopeful and trust in God. Keep your thoughts on the present do not dwell on the future. Remain hopeful and trust in God. "Have courage and your belief will make you whole." (Luke 8:50)

Three Step to Christian healing.
One - Repent -- Dear lord forgive our sins for we are truly sorry and will sin so more and we forgive all those who have hurt us. Save me, and I shall be saved.

Two - Ask -- Heal me, O Lord and I shall be healed.

Three - Thanks and trust -- We thank you, O God, healer of the sick for healing us. Thy will be done. God, I trust in you.

Nothing tends more to promote health and healing in the body than does a spirit of gratitude and praise to the Lord.

Heal me, O Lord and I shall be healed; save me,
and I shall be saved; for thou art my praise.
(Jeremiah 17:14)

God thank you for your healing that soothes the aches and pains. Thank you for your perfect love that soaks away my fear. Your tender daily care in every area of need draws me to your love. Thank you for walking with me day by day. Thy will be done. God, I trust in you.

You have called me to trust beyond all reason. I lay my life upon the altar of
your love and I say with joy in my soul, please heal me Lord. "Thy will be done. God, I trust in you."

May we discover through suffering and fear,
the strength to move toward healing.
May it come to pass that we be restored to health and to vigor.
May Life grant us wellness of body, spirit, and mind.

Dear Lord you have said, "have courage, belief will make you whole". Give me the strength to have courage and believe that you will heal me and I shall be healed. Thank you for walking with me each day. Thy will be done. God, I trust in you.

"And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. " (Matthew 8:2-3 KJV)

Lord God hear my prayer and
heed my plea for mercy.
In my time of trouble I call You,
for You will answer me.
When pain and fatigue are my companions,
Let there be room in my heart for strength.
When days and nights are filled with darkness,
Let the light of courage find its place.
Help me to endure the suffering and dissolve the fear,
Renew within me the calm spirit of trust and peace.
Heal me and I will be healed, save me and I will be saved.
We praise you, O God, healer of the sick. Thy will be done. God, I trust in you.

God grant me the serenity,
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

When we suffer an illness we have a battle. The Lord walks with us and he is mighty in battle. "Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle." (Psalm 24:8) The Lord will help us overcome our suffering and dissolve the fear.
